报告摘要:
The next generation of PET systems have excellent time-of-flight capability, which improves the signal-to-noise ratio in PET images and reduces imaging time. Furthermore, multimodality imaging such as PET/CT scanners have been proven to show a marked improvement in the diagnosis and staging of human diseases. Similar to CT, MRI also offers excellent structural information without the extra radiation dose in CT scans. However, conventional PET detector technology cannot operate inside an MRI system. Thus, there is a need for PET detector modules to operate inside a magnetic field to explore the benefits of combined PET/MRI systems. In this seminar, I will discuss advanced technologies, which include new improved scintillators, advanced solid-state photodetectors, and advanced readout electronics, that will enable these next generation of PET systems.
